Home About Kamogawakan Japanese
The beginnings of Kamogawakan go back 70 years, when our founder Kuichi Aoki arrived in Nagaoka after his apprenticeship in Tokyo, not long after the war. He opened a fishmonger’s at Omotemachi, and then quickly started a restaurant, too. Kuichi’s discerning selection of ingredients and cooking flavors gained a following, and saw the business develop into two restaurants, each with a total dining space of about 50 square meters. The tradition of Kamogawakan handed down from the founder includes his inquisitive mind to discerning ingredients and top quality in delivering satisfaction. Today, we continue to trust in the discernment of our kitchen for procurement, and assign top priority to the compliments extended by our guests. Praised as Nagaoka’s quintessential purveyor of traditional Japanese cuisine, Kamogawakan is proud of its reputation inherited through its founding spirit.
